Advisement Haiku

Dear Diary,
In my quest to find relaxation techniques I stumbled upon an online article which stated that writing Haiku poetry…(3 lines, 5-7-5 syllables) was very Zen-like. Not only do you have to capture a single moment in only a few words but you have to be in the ‘now’. Ah! That’s the tricky part…no worrying about personal problems or tomorrows to-do list. There’s even a certain Zen-iness for the reader because they share the experience of the single moment and thereby learn to appreciate the good in their own lives.

That did it! I had to give it a try. Drumroll please…..I give you…

Advisement Haiku

Words, words, and more words.
by-product of advising…
dry mouth and parched throat

Mom pays tuition.
Son catnapping on the couch.
Grades? Don’t ask. Can’t Tell.

_________________________________

Johnny has high hopes.
Ten classes at once. Too much!
Dropped like lead balloons.

_________________________________

Taste test for success.
On probation is bitter.
A’s and B’s are sweeeet!

Bright spot amidst files,
Thank you card from a student.
This advisors’ bliss!

This was so much fun… I feel Zen-ny all over! I highly recommend it.
