About Advisor Diaries

Welcome to The Advisor Diaries!

My name is Dr. Karla Pelletier and I’ve been in Student Services (advising) for almost 25 years. Through the years, some of my most enlightening and enjoyable memories have been when I attended advising conferences such as NACADA. Not only was there a wealth of information but the camaraderie and the sharing of experiences with my advising colleagues was truly uplifting. I always returned to my campus rejuvenated.

The Advisor Diaries was created to provide an outlet for college advisors to share their experiences, advice and a laugh! Most of all to de-stress!

So join in, submit a story, share advice/comments and get rejuvenated!

Happy Advising!

  1. This is very true. Conferences are a great way to share best practices through workshops. Yet, the most enlightening information I got from conferences came from informal conversations with peers from around the country, sharing personal experiences. Whether they were frustrations or accomplishments, the stories made me feel a little less alone in my job. Looking forward to reading more here!

  2. My fellow advisors and myself keep a book of amusing stories regarding our student appointments. It is a great way to bring us out of the doom and gloom some days. It is nice to read Advisor Diaries and realize we are not unique or alone in what we do.
